Silence

Sitting right here
I just want to scream.
This awkward silence,
This quiet thing.
This conversation,
Has come to a halt.
Because of my question
This halt is my fault.
I asked you this question,
And now your face is blank.
And with that look on your face.
I think my heart just sank.
I thought it would be simple,
What your answer would be.
But now things are complicated.
Could this be the end of you and me?
You're starting to answer
And I'm shaking in my knees.
All this trouble for one little question,
And all it was, was "Do you love me."
